In fact, we don't even see ourselves as business owners in the traditional sense. We prefer to call ourselves "partners in crime". Most days, you'll find us cracking jokes and having a blast. Our friendship comes first, and our business revolves around, well, junk.
Both of us graduated from Dakota College at Bottineau, and together, we run Granville JunkAholics LLC. We're a tight-knit crew of junk enthusiasts hailing from north central North Dakota. Our mission? To breathe new life into discarded treasures through restoration, refurbishment, and creative repurposing.
Our journey began back in college, where late-night crafting sessions sparked our passion for making. Those moments of creativity solidified our identities as "makers" and laid the groundwork for our future endeavors.
After tossing our graduation caps, we stayed in touch, fueled by a shared love for salvaging the forgotten. In 2012, we took the plunge and launched Granville JunkAholics after a wildly successful yard sale. What started as a simple downsizing project spiraled into a full-fledged operation, complete with community sales and junk digs galore.
From abandoned lots to cluttered attics, we scour every nook and cranny in search of hidden gems. Our digs are like scavenger hunts, filled with surprises and unexpected treasures. We revel in the thrill of the hunt, piecing together forgotten histories and crafting unique creations from discarded scraps.
But our work isn't just about stuff—it's about people. Our junk digs foster meaningful connections, allowing us to share in the stories of those we meet along the way.
Every year, we embark on a special journey we call the Midsummer Junk Journey, traveling along Highway 2 to meet fellow junk enthusiasts. It's a pilgrimage of sorts, spanning hundreds of miles in search of the next great find.
And let's not forget about our sales events—like Junkin' in the Dirt, held every October at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds. But our offerings don't stop there. We also provide furnishing and housewares rentals for special events, along with top-notch interior design services. Plus, we offer furnished homes and commercial spaces for short or long-term stays, providing a cozy stay for those in the Upper Midwest.
